Wiodek Jarczyk of Karnice is seen here with the cross we found at the Voightshagen (Woldarka) church.  This cross was one of several that we pulled out of an area where gravestones and grave markers were thrown into a corner of the church property and discarded.  This this particular cross has significant value as it is from a related Heuer Family member who was from the Voightshagen area.

We met the Jarczyk family in Karnitz and we have been corresponding ever since.  They are a progressive young family that have gone out of their way to help us.

When we found this cross, the  Jarczyks accompanied me to Stettin to visit a Polish Official who was responsible for country archives.  We were told that the cross was a national treasure and could not be removed.  Since we were not convinced this was the proper assessment,  Mrs Jarczyk took the cross to Warsaw to the head offices of the Polish Archives who ultimately have given us written permission to remove the cross from Poland if we wish.
