The German government has allocated monies for church reconstruction and many of these old churches are being totally restored.

As in most cases, the steeple of this church was destroyed by the Russian troops as they drove towards Berlin at the end of WWII.  They would typically blast off the steeples of churches as they were great spots to see for miles and not a bad spot to set up sharpshooters.

Directly across the road from the church was a parsonage that was being restored by a young college student from south of Germany.   This parsonage was about 260 years old. He was hand hewing a huge replacement beam at the time we were there.
